Terrace roofs
Glass, blinds or a solid roof? Learn how the choice affects shelter and daylight inside the house. We also answer questions about measurements, post positions, roof pricing and site preparation.
Which roof coverings does Pinegard offer?
Open this question in the full FAQOptions include glass, manual or motorised blinds, and solid coverings such as metal sheeting and PVC membrane. What affects the price of a Pinegard terrace roof?
Open this question in the full FAQThe price comprises the structure, roof, side screens and equipment. When comparing options, check whether the quotation includes:

- lighting and radiant heaters;
- transport and installation;
- foundation preparation and any work on an existing terrace.
Prices are comparable only when the scope is the same.
What timber is used for the terrace roof structure?

How does a garden room differ from an open gazebo?
Open this question in the full FAQA Pinegard garden room can have a solid roof, timber or glazed walls and separate rooms. Is a glazed garden room suitable for year-round use?

A wind-sheltering enclosure extends the season, but its specification differs from a room designed for regular use at low temperatures.
What can a Pinegard garden room kitchen include?
Open this question in the full FAQA kitchen can include a worktop, sink, storage and space for appliances, including an electric grill. A sink needs a water supply and drainage; appliances need an appropriate electrical supply.

Open this question in the full FAQThe basic equipment comprises:
- a heater and controls;

Garden gyms
Equipment and training style set the questions to ask first. How much movement space, what height and which floor loads? We also cover noise, ventilation, temperature, cost and private gyms versus client studios.
What structural systems does Pinegard use for garden gyms?
Open this question in the full FAQTimber framing or HBE laminated timber elements. The facade can be finished with boards or, in a suitable system, render. The layout, glazing and services depend on whether the building is intended for seasonal or year-round training.
What determines the floor's load-bearing capacity beneath equipment?
Open this question in the full FAQThe designer needs equipment weights, user weights and the loads used during training. Equipment support points and impacts from setting weights down also matter.
An exercise bike loads the floor differently from a barbell set down dynamically. A mat can protect the finish and soften some impacts, but does not increase the floor's load-bearing capacity.
What determines the price of a Pinegard garden gym?
Open this question in the full FAQSize, structural system, facade, glazing and interior finish. A year-round building has different building elements and services from a seasonal shelter. A floor for heavy equipment, heating, ventilation and installation access also affect the cost.

Does an open-slatted pergola protect against rain?
Open this question in the full FAQIt does not provide a watertight cover: water passes through the gaps. Protecting furniture and the dining area requires a suitable covering. Pinegard offers options including glass, blinds and solid roofs; protection depends on the selected system.

What timber does Pinegard use?
Open this question in the full FAQWe use glued laminated timber in load-bearing terrace roofs, pergolas and sheds. Our timber comes from Scandinavia, and we use OSMO coatings for exterior protection. Facades, structural components and sauna interiors have different functions, so their materials are selected separately.
Are foundations the same as the terrace surface?
Open this question in the full FAQNo. Tiles, decking and paving form the walking surface. Foundations transfer structural loads to the ground and may lie beneath the terrace finish.
Their positions, load-bearing capacity and suitability for fixing supports must be checked before installation.
How are delivery and installation handled on the property?
Open this question in the full FAQPinegard delivers prepared components, and the team assembles the structure on site. Space for unloading and a route to carry components into the garden are needed. A narrow gate, stairs or an upper-floor terrace affects logistics and how larger components are delivered.
